Newsletter EditorWest Midlands Region committee members are dedicated and enthusiastic volunteers, democratically voted into office, who organise local events, provide information and promote the British Wheel of Yoga and yoga generally to existing members and the public at a local level.
Regional Officer Jo Harper provides the link between our committee, and the national Regional Officers Committee. Her role links the county and regional functions of the BWY with its national role. She is also the Child Protection Officer for the Region.
Training Officer Jo Harper supports the County Reps in our Region in the provision of BWY ISTs (In-Service Training). She is a BWY Diploma holder and has completed the BWY modules in children’s and pregnancy yoga and Pranayama. She brings 20 years of secondary school teaching experience to her role.
Treasurer John Hayward's role is to look after the region's finances, and ensure that events continue to bring money to the region. John is not a yoga teacher—his love of and commitment to yoga practice has brought him into this position of service to the yoga community. He had a long career as a BT engineer.
County Representatives are responsible for sending information out to the region's members, encouraging membership growth, organising and running events (CPD for teachers as well as general interest seminars for members), selling BWY goods to make a profit for our region and answering questions raised by members or prospective members. Their role is to ensure that BWY is actively and positively promoted in their county; they are the primary link between members of the public who seek classes/information about yoga and the BWY as the Governing Body for Yoga in the UK.
